Selections from interviews with three U.S. soldiers, having returned from Iraq, are heard while their words are transcribed on a computer screen. The starts and stops of the transcriber constructing a document frame the speakers’ reflections on how they became and were formed into soldiers, along with the challenges of returning to civilian life.
